GE 15 HATE SPEECH & DISINFORMATION MONITORING


I was part of a project to strengthen the resilience of Malaysian society to resist the effects of mis/disinformation and hate-based narratives in the information ecosystem prior to and during GE15. The project aims to 

  1. Expose sources and patterns of mis/disinformation, bias, and toxic rhetoric within traditional and new media
  2. Develop fact-based counter narratives and strategic responses (e.g engagement with the state and social media platforms in policy reforms).

Activity 1.1 - Design and Develop a Monitoring Framework

Activity 1.2 - Peer Learning on Global Infotegrity Initiatives

Activity 1.3 - Pre-Election and Election Media Monitoring


Project Objective 2: Fact-based counter narratives that educate the public and hold malign information actors accountable are developed and promoted

Activity 2.1 - Strengthen Strategic Communications Framework (craft messages effective in countering disinformation and toxic rhetoric)

Activity 2.2 - Mobilize Media Actors and Civil Society Partners Around Fact-Based Counter Narratives 

Activity 2.3 - Engage Tech Companies


I am actively involved in activities that concern combating disinformation, devising social media policies and media engagement.
